Abstract Paintings

Tink Tonk by Nabil Nahas

This is an abstract painting that was done in 1980 by the artist Nabil Nahas born in Lebanon. This is a painting that was done with acrylic paint and this is the painting that stuck out most to me. I think first of all it sticks out to me due to all the different colors and shapes that are presented in this painting and how well they are used to put together something unique and interesting. It uses abstract lines to make the shapes look like there is some in the front and some all the way in the back to create a somewhat moving effect. You have a lot of colors that are presented in different shapes that look to just be in the background and not part of the front of the piece. It’s a great abstract image because of the lines and colors used to create a more abstract art piece. They use the perfect effect of lining because it creates what I would call different dimensions to this piece and how it looks like many different pieces put together into one creative 3D art piece. The lines and colors with shading create the 3D look and make this the abstract painting that it is and gives you the image that it’s popping out of the canvas and coming towards you. The use of not only shading some portions of the piece but also the darker colors in some areas cause the colors in the other areas along with the triangular shapes to have the pop effect and make it a 3D image. I don’t have a complete understanding of the image but that’s what I love about abstract art is that it can be interpreted in so many ways.
